One of our most popular add-ons to our range are our custom-made birch plywood tops. They are available for all our steel furniture except tall shelves and lockers. Now, you may be asking yourself, why do I need a wooden top for my steel furniture? And there are quite a few reasons - it protects from minor damage, it makes the piece last longer, it allows you to change your look to name a few.
We've just updated our birch tops with new packaging, slip proof rubber feet, and a new more durable construction, so we thought, what better time to tell you all about them.
If you are thinking of getting a top for your existing Popstrukt piece, want to get one with your next piece, or just want to find out why Birch Ply makes a great top then read on to discover 5 reasons why you should get birch ply tabletop.
There are few materials as complementary as steel and wood. This combination has been a mainstay of architects, interior designers & decorators looking to create a sleek modern look, while still keeping a natural organic touch.
Our 9mm birch ply boards are made by layering thin layers of solid birch wood in alternating directions to create a strong and durable panel. This panel is then treated with a natural touch monocoat to add durability and stain resistance. This makes it perfect for areas that see a lot of wear and tear, such as kid’s rooms, home offices, workshops and rooms with lots of plants.
The energy and enthusiasm of a child knows no bounds, unfortunately this can have dire consequences for your furniture. The rubber grippers at the base ensure the board sits securely on the unit while the monocoat treatment not only makes the top more durable, but also means the unit is stain resistant and can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth.
Dress it up, dress it down, move it around and around. The Birch Top gives you more design options and uses for your piece, the silicon grips mean the board fits securely, but can be removed easily when desired. It can also revitalise an old or damaged unit, giving it new life.
This isn’t necessarily a reason to get one, but it does make getting a birch ply top even better. Our birch plywood is made from sustainably-sourced Scandinavian birch, this fast growing tree can be easily replenished with minimal impact on the environment.
